ABOUT US

Lessons in Crime is an Alternative Pop Rock duo from Ottawa, ON, made up of Liam Schwisberg (Vocals, Guitar, Keys) and Paolo Pace (Drums, Keys, Vocals). The band began during their time in college, when Liam asked Paolo to play drums on his final project. Paolo loved the song so much, he didn’t just play on it... he asked if they could start a band.

Entirely self-produced, self-mixed, and independently-released, Lessons in Crime craft pop and rock songs that push the genre to its emotional and sonic limits, blending guitars, synths, and cinematic orchestral elements. Their music is at once fun and vulnerable, blending emotional honesty with a quirky, offbeat charm.

At the heart of the band is a desire to connect with others about things that often go unsaid, to write something that makes people think, “I’ve felt this way before, but I’ve never been able to put it into words.”

In 2019, the boys released their self-produced debut album “The Answer Doesn’t Exist,” and celebrated with an album release show at Ottawa’s Gladstone Theatre. Since then, Liam and Paolo have been hard at work on their second full-length album.
